Probiotics in Dentistry

The use of probiotics is an interesting emerging and not to be neglected field in general and oral healthcare. Probiotic bacteria seem to affect both oral microbiota and immune responses. Bacteriotherapy in the form of probiotics seems to be a natural way to maintain health and protect oral tissues from diseases. But, this area of research in relation to oral health is still in its infancy and further long term randomized controlled studies are required before definite conclusions are drawn regarding their effective action on oral health.
