Scarecrow

A Scarecrow is the first collection of fairy tales written for children since the founding of PRC. The author Ye Shengtao was also a trail blazer in modern Chinese fairy tale writing. His stories feature ingenious and unique conception, detailed and vivid description as well as realistic and relevant subject matters. His early works are particularly known for their lyrical language and aesthetic style. The story &quote;A Scarecrow&quote; realistically paints a panorama of the vulnerable Chinese countryside in the 1920s, from the perspective of a sympathetic but powerless scarecrow.
