It was a short wheelbase two door coupe based on the Australian Chrysler Valiant sedan. Introduced with the Valiant VH model, it continued through the VJ & VK series up to the CL range, released in 1976. The best sales were in New Zealand, where they were also assembled. The combination of the powerful engine, light body and short wheelbase made them perfectly suited to New Zealand''s winding mountainous roads. The Valiant Charger VH model won the 1971 Australian Wheels Car of the Year Award.
