A Touch of Order". Trauma Therapy as a Challenge for Pastoral Care

Traumatic experiences are disruptions which leave people speechless and impact life for a long time, sometimes a life time. The study provides the discipline pastoral care with a fundamental knowledge of psychotraumatology seeking to explore chances und limits of religious communication under the impact of extreme events. It distinguishes between trauma as a medical-psychological diagnosis and trauma as a cultural interpretative pattern. By means of examples from the Bible and literature the author is looking for strategies to cope with emotional heritages that affect generations.
